Floating OmniFocus video ad units
OmniFocus is Dejacast’s floating video player aimed at maximizing ad delivery frequency through a flexible format and config.
When in OmniFocus mode, the player constantly sends ad requests and will only appear if a valid ad is received. As soon as the ad ends, the player will start playing the actual video content and meanwhile requesting additional ads. After an interval of receiving no additional ads, the player will stop and hide itself from the view.
Configuring OmniFocus using Dejacast Dashboard
- Step 1: Login using your account credentials into Dejacast Dashboard, that can be accessed at app.dejacast.com
- Step 2: Navigate to Settings > Players and choose the player you want to configure. Make sure Allow advertising is enabled
- Step 3: On the Edit Player page, use the top navigation bar to go to Advertising , scroll down to OmniFocus and select Floating-only OmniFocus. Configure the ad break config for OmniFocus
- Add one or multiple VAST URLs
- If multiple Ad Tag URLs will be configured for OmniFocus, the player will always request or fallback to the next URL in the list, until a valid ad is received and displayed.
- Step 4: Set up “Delay for requesting ads after the page loads” if you want to add an interval before the floating player starts requesting ads.
- Step 5: Set up “Interval between two successive ads” to configure the number of seconds the player should wait before requesting new ads after the previous ad ended (minimum 3 seconds).
- Step 6: Set up “Interval between two ad request retries” to define the number of seconds the player waits before attempting to request an ad again after a failed attempt (minimum 0.1 seconds).
- Step 7: Set up “Maximum number of ad retries” (minimum 5) to specify how many times the player should retry requesting an ad before stopping.
- Step 8: Optionally, click Customize omniFocus player to set how the floating player looks, separately for Mobile and Desktop:
- the player's position on the screen
- the close button position
- the player margins (top, bottom, left, right, in pixels)
- the z-index, to keep the player above or below other page elements
- Step 9: Click Save Ads.
The Using OmniFocus box below the settings shows the embed code to use. You can also get it for a specific video: open the video in the Media Library, go to Embed Video, choose the player and click Show OmniFocus code.
Publisher use cases:
OmniFocus embed codes end in -of.js. Without the -of suffix, the script loads a regular in-article player instead of OmniFocus.
- Using the OmniFocus embed code with a video UUID (a
vprefix in front of the UUID), will play the specific video as the content between two successive ads.<script type="text/javascript"src="https://app.dejacast.com/player/{{ $player }}/v{{ $uuid }}-of.js"></script> - Using the OmniFocus embed code with a show slug (an
sprefix in front of the show slug), will play one of the videos in the show as the content between two successive ads. You can find the show slug in the show's settings, under Shows.<script type="text/javascript"src="https://app.dejacast.com/player/{{ $player }}/s{{ $show_slug }}-of.js"></script>- By default, the show-type embed will randomly select one video in the show
- To use the latest video published in the show, the
sortquery parameter should be used, with a value ofpublished_at_desc<script type="text/javascript"src="https://app.dejacast.com/player/{{ $player }}/s{{ $show_slug }}-of.js?sort=published_at_desc"></script>
