EPG

The EPG Manager lets you build the daily program schedule (Electronic Program Guide) of a publisher's live channel. For each program you can set the show it belongs to, geo-restrictions, and whether it is listed publicly, recorded, or blacked out.

Availability

The EPG Manager appears under the Publishers menu only if the EPG feature is enabled for your account. Contact [email protected] to enable it.

Select a schedule

  1. Go to Publishers → EPG Manager.
  2. Select the publisher whose live channel you want to schedule.
  3. Pick a day. You can open any day from the start of last week to the end of next week.
  4. Click Submit to load that day's schedule.

Build the schedule

Use these buttons to add programs to the day:

  • Add new schedule item: adds a single program to the schedule.
  • Copy schedule from last week: copies the whole schedule from the same day of the previous week.

Edit the programs directly in the table, then click Save schedule to apply your changes.

The schedule table

ColumnDescription
TimeThe start time of the program.
Item nameThe title of the program (for example an episode, segment or rerun title).
ShowThe show the program belongs to. Recordings of the program are added to this show.
Geo RestrictionThe country group allowed to watch the program. See Geo-Restriction on Video Content.
PublicWhen on, the program is listed in the EPG for that day. When off, it is hidden from the EPG.
RecordWhen on, the program is recorded and turned into a video in the selected show. Available only if Recording is active for the publisher and a show is selected.
BlkOutWhen on, the program is blacked out: its transmission is suppressed while it airs. Available only if Live Stream Transmission is active for the publisher.
ActionsDelete removes the program from the schedule.

Recorded programs are encoded after the publisher's Shows Idle Period, which gives you time to edit the recording, for example to remove ad breaks, before the video is published. See Adding a Publisher.

End of Day

The system automatically adds an End of Day item right after the last program of the day. It marks where the day's schedule ends. You can change its time if you need to set a different end time for the day.

Virtual Channel schedules

For publishers whose stream type is Virtual Channel, the channel is played out from your own content instead of a live signal. The schedule table then has an Ingest Content column instead of Record and BlkOut.

To choose what plays in a program slot, click Change in the Ingest Content column. In the Select content to ingest window you can pick:

  • Media Library: one or more videos, filtered by publisher and show. Type at least 4 characters to search by title.
  • Live Streams: the live stream of one of your publishers, relayed during that slot.

Click Add videos to confirm your selection, then Save schedule.
